Iris and Me :)

This is one of her favorite pics of us. She is on left and I am on right ..eating a snack. We used to love to lie on that chase lounge together on her screened in porch and tell spooky stories at night. And we'd talk about other things. We did that until we were about 13, when one day it tipped over backwards. That was funny. Her father had to come rescue us and get us right side up again. We stopped sharing it after that. :)

What a great pic. How cute the two of you look. Tell us some of the funniest things that went on between you and Iris. Surely, that Lucy-ness didn't come about later on in life.

Thank you. This was her favorite. I like it too. My favorite is when we were both in dresses and her father took a pic of us in front of their house just before we were leaving to go out to dinner and the boardwalk ...something we did often. :)

I plan on writing a really special post about our friendship with pics.

I don't know so much about the Lucy-ness as much as I could be a tease/pain ..when I became a teenager.

We used to fight over who got the best side of the Garage when we played dolls, who rode the aqua walrus or who got the blue fish. Since her stuff ..or her house ..she usually won. :) The blue fish fron the arcade machine ..a tiny plastic trinket among our plastic treasures was mine. She got a pink one but wanted mine. her dad talked me into trading. I forgot all about it and than many years later as adults she confessed she felt guilty about it. Ha ha! I never ever thought about it since we were kids and probably that night. I was easy going and we just had fun. We rarely squabbled and really were like 2 peas in a pod of those friendships that you just know was meant to be.

One of the most important things we shared and I know she would agree was that we shared our faith. We both have always had a profoundly deep faith in God and asked Jesus to be our Savior and live in our hearts when I was 9 and she was 10. I brought her over to Mrs Berry the retired school teacher who had a Sat afternoon Bible grp.

When I did my Mom's eulogy ...I mentioned that and how mom encouraging my faith had actually gotten me through some very tough times between 12-14 ..when times were tough for mom and me and I easily could've gotten into a lot of trouble ..but remained a good girl with values. Iris and I went to church together and youth grp. She was right in front rows and nodding her head agreeing with me when I was up there talking about this stuff.

I was a dare devil by time I was 13-14. of course now I know that was a young girl acting out because of her home circumstances. But ..I also know that being with Iris and uncle charlie and aunt dawn ..her parents ..all summer ..almost every day all day into dark hrs ...had a major influence on me all those summers. A good one.

You're right ..Just writing about these things feels better.

When I can and am inspired ...i will write a real nice one. :)
