Hmm! I eat junk food when I am stressed, yet when I was in hospital as a patient I couldn't touch the stuff. Neither was it because I felt nauseated. G only eats it when he has a hypo - but he has to, because he feels so wretched and we only have a few minutes to get something very sweet and very digestible down him to raise his blood glucose up again. I forever worry that he will pass out into a coma and I will have to try dripping honey (the runny kind) into his mouth. (If we don't have any "Hypostop" in.I wonder if there is some truth in this cartoon?
I was surprised to learn that candy bars aren't best choice because fat slows down sugar uptake. They said to keep a tube ..a small tube of icing with you and if low bs eat whole thing. or those little glucose tablets or honey. Can you just imagine what people would think seeing a heavy person eating a tube of icing? That doesn't happen to me but for a couple of times and is an awful feeling.Unfortunately food was always my drug of choice medicate with eating and tv. Total zone out and totally comforting. Just not a good habit.I think hospitals offer junk, but I know there's been discussion about not having the vending machines filled with junk. I think people should have free choice.
Have you tried eating a tube of icing when you are nauseous from being in a near shock state from low blood suagr? It is very difficult for G to eat at all because he feels so sick ehrn he is hypo! I don't mean that he needs crsips or such , he just needs sugar in a digestible but palatable way.OK I will stop my rant. Have you been to see my new blog home yet?I will say bye bye now
Hi YP - I think it would be sickening to eat the icing even if feeling good ..would be awful if nauseated.I'm sorry I haven't been visiting. I do want to and WILL be, but have been having trouble with computer, not feeling well and super busy lately. Please don't give up on me. I'm very glad we reconnected. :)
